Hello all Mercury Class Members!

Just a quick update from your President, I know its been a while, but it has been a busy summer.

Since my last report the NorCal series wrapped up, another successful series for the SF Bay Fleet. Unfortunately the SoCal series never gained any traction this year, but will push through to next Spring and make it happen! Then we had Santa Barbra Spring Regatta, with 6 boast on the line.

Let’s shoot for twice that many next year!! Hart Nunes started July off for the class, San Francisco Yacht Club did another great job considering the changing conditions! Finally Huntington Lake! 19 boats made it this year, and despite the rain and thunder storm on Thursday afternoon and early Friday morning (a few of our class members that were camping scurried about early Friday morning trying to keep water from flooding their camp site!), by the weekend all was right with the world! Both Saturday and Sunday were beautiful, which made for very fun sailing!

So, what do we have coming up you ask! Labor Day Regatta in Stillwater Cove, not to be missed!….August 31st and September 1st (Saturday and Sunday)……Web site has been corrected, it did show the wrong dates. Please let Dick Clark, the regatta chair, know if you will be attending. That will help them plan for food for the Saturday BBQ. THEN September 12th through the 15th is our National Championships hosted by Richmond Yacht Club! Two important things here, #1, as I have been saying since January, you MUST have your boat weighted prior to arriving in order to race. The class has 2 scales now, one in the Bay Area and one in Southern Calif. Contact me, Dave West, Tom Priest, or Lyn Hines to arrange getting your boat weighted! #2, PLEASE let Lyn Hines know if you will be coming to the Nationals. The registration is up on Regatta Network, pop in there and get registered!! Richmond Yacht Club is going all out to make this a great event for the Mercury Class.

 See you on the water!
