Hello again Mercury Class Members! The racing season is in full swing!! We had a good showing at the Mid-Winters with good wind and no storms this year.

Nor-Cal Series kicked off in March, with another good show of boats, good wind, and excellent weather, and again for the April Saturday. Sol-Cal Series has been slow to get going with no boats making the start line in March. The April Saturday had to be pushed up because of some local yacht club conflicts, but CBYC provided a good race committee with wind at 12 knots with some puffs to 15 knots. Weather was stellar, and we were able to get 6 races in.  Good racing and fun for everyone!

Coming up next we have the SB / Spring Regatta May 5th and 6th in Santa Barbra, which promises to be a very good event!  Make your plans now to attend!!  Nor-Cal and So-Cal Series continue in May and June…..again you don’t want to miss out on the fun!!

It’s not official yet, but it looks like Huntington Lake will be a go this year (the web cam there shows it is snowing as I write this). Goes without saying it, make your plans now for either lodging or camping!!

Don Whelan and yours truly purchased Mercury 455 from Jim Wasti and are in the middle of restoring it (it just had some water and leaves growing in it).  We moved the boat to Don’s side yard to get it cleaned up and rigged. The idea is to get the boat in racing shape and move it back to CBYC where if someone needs a Merc to race it is available. The ultimate goal is to sell it so someone that will actively race it.  Pictures coming soon to the Merc web site of the progress we have made and are making.

The planning and preparation of the Mercury Nationals at Los Angeles Yacht Club is moving forward.  Will get updates to all as we get closer to the big show!

So many great regattas are yet to come this year!  Try and make some time in your schedule to get to one! Get out and race your boat!  Your boat will love you for it, and you are guaranteed to have a good time along the way!

See you on the water!
