2018 Cinco de Mayo regatta had a small turnout but great racing conditions. Saturday saw an early morning westerly, 8-12 knots.
It had lots of small shifts and tracking those big benefits at both the starting line and further up the course. With the small fleet racing was close all around the course and missing one shift often resulted in quickly losing a spot.
Sunday started as a drifter, unfortunately talking over an hour to make it to the starting area. After a 2 hour delay a nice westerly started to fill in allowing the RC to get off two races. Many thanks to the Santa Barbara Sailing Club for putting on a great regatta with excellent committee work and making the our out of town visitors feel right at home.
