We were not sure we were going to sail going into the weekend, but no one really wanted to cancel. We raced and what a day! Shifty breeze between 13 and 15 knots primarily from the west. There were 12 Mercs entered. No one side of the course was favored. Winners went on either side, depending where the shifts in the wind sent them.

The first race was a W/L, finishing on the wind. John and Michael Ravizza had a good start on the pin end. Doug Baird and Hal McCormack started on the committee boat end. Both boats sailed away from the fleet. Baird won, with Ravizza second. Lyn and Odile Hines placed third.

Race two was W/L, twice around finishing on the wind. Bill Buckingham and Blair Peterson took off from the start and nobody got near them as they easily won. In second was Ravizza, continuing to sail very fast and smart. Baird was third.

Race three, same course, Ravizza was rolling again with a good start and boat speed for a first. Jim and Kathy Bradley finally got it going to place second. Hines was third.

Race four, Baird was off fast and no one could stay with him, on the same course as race two and three. Buckingham continued with his good day to place second. Hines, sailing very well got another third. In race five Pax Davis and Aaron Lee finally showed up and had a good race with Baird. The course was W/L, finishing downwind on the second lap. Baird won by a half a boat length. Third place went to John Hansen and Austin Book

Ken And Marianne Popplewell conducted the races and did their usual great job.
